안구 건조증이란?
피부가 건조해지듯 눈도 건조함을 느끼게 된다. 눈물이 충분히 많은 사람은 잘 느끼지 못하지만, 눈물 양이 적은 사람들은 작은 환경 변화에도 건조함을 쉽게 느끼는 것이다. 안구건조증도 안질환으로 적기에 치료하지 않으면 상태가 악화되어 다른 질병을 불러올 수 있다.
○ 증상
– 모래가 들어간 느낌
– 충혈, 실 같은 눈곱이 생길 때
– 침침하게 잘 안 보인다
– 뻑뻑하거나 무거운 느낌
– 책이나 TV를 오래 못보고 빨리 피로함
– 햇빛 아래서 눈부심을 심하게 느낌
– 가렵거나 가끔씩 찌르는 것 같이 따끔함
– 눈이 시리거나 뜨기가 힘들다
– 소프트렌즈를 삽입하거나 뺄 때 힘듬
– 속눈썹이 눈에 자주 들어간다
○ 어떤 사람이 자주 걸리나
– 나이 : 나이가 들수록 빈도가 높다. 미국의 경우 65세 이상의 75%가 안구건조증이다.
– 여자 : 임신, 수유, 경구 피임약, 생리, 폐경 등에 의한 호르몬 변화가 안구건조를 유발시킨다.
– 질병 : 류마티스, 관절염, 갑상선, 기형, 천식, 피부결핵 등의 부작용으로 안구건조를 가져온다.
– 약 : 항진정제, 충혈완화제, 항히스타민, 혈압보조제, 구강소염제, 이뇨제, 궤양약, 수면제, 여드름 치료제 등은 눈물 생성을 감소시킨다.
– 콘택트렌즈 : 수분이 필요해 눈물을 빼앗아 간다. 특히, 소프트렌즈는 말랑말랑한 형태를 유지해야 하기 때문에 더 많은 눈물 양을 요구, 건조감을 더욱 심하게 한다. 심한 경우 염증, 통증을 유발하기도 한다.
